2015 Ronan by Clinet, Pur'Cab, Bordeaux
Following the success of their wonderfully easy-drinking 100 percent Merlot cuvée, Ch. Clinet has now released its rather more discerning sibling – Pur’ Cab. As the name suggests this is made from a blend of the two Cabernets (Sauvignon and Franc), all sourced from the Right Bank, near Clinet’s home in Pomerol. The resulting wine is rich and dark with generous blackcurrant fruit, abundant fine tannins and a classic pencil lead and herbal finish. An homage to Clinet’s presence in the Right Bank, this should please most Cabernet fans looking for an everyday option. If drunk young, it may benefit from a short decant and it should suit most classic beef or lamb dishes.
This is an excellent wine. It is mellow on first taste but with a long after taste that is fresh but with striking undertones of berries and a hint of spice. Very good value for money.
